A note on eternal wonder (continued)
The raptured ways of (un)beingness
Somewhere on the other side of Sunday is a confession
from the dragon and the beast
telling us to look on the inside
where the end times truly lie.
The work of human
greed
terror
trouble
and neglect —
the heartbeats we have ignored
and the souls we have failed
both the living and the dead
are the real sources of our ending.
The mythologies of our sacred bonafides sit on a rock
high and lifted up
and look out to see what their stories have made of the earth
shaking their head
asking the question:
What have we done?
What have we made of their stories?
sacred telescopes wrapped in ancient paper
searching for the truth in the skies.
I got fruit trees in my brain
eating away at socialization.

“What do you mean you are a theologian?”
“Questions. It means I got questions. Questions about God…and them.”
“God is not to be questioned.”
“I am not questioning God…I am questioning all the ways we have defined God, described God, enshrined God. I am questioning our religious ways of knowing God.”
“Oh, Lord have mercy. You don’ gon’ and jumped in the deep end…You better get back here before you go too far.”
(laughter)
“I’m fine…No, more than that: I’m free. And I want to go as far as this wonder of mine will carry me.”
